Privacy & publication principles

A family-history website should preserve the past without exposing living people unnecessarily.

What this static site collects

This working version uses no analytics, advertising trackers, cookies or database. It does not collect information merely because someone visits the site.

Living people

Personal contact details found in old Clan emails and newsletters are not automatically republished. Family stories and photographs involving living people should be published only with an appropriate basis for sharing them.

Copyright

Historical photographs, newspaper extracts, presentation slides and third-party writing may remain protected even when they concern Clan history. The archive therefore distinguishes between material preserved for research and material cleared for public publication.

Corrections and removal requests

If a living person asks for a photograph or personal detail to be corrected or removed, the Clan should review the request promptly.
